Philadelphia-based Thomas Jefferson University (TJU) has licensed a patent-pending technology designed to reduce age-related memory loss to Seoul, Korea-based Daeyang E&C, Inc. The deal was brokered for the university by its tech transfer outsourcing firm Competitive Technologies, Inc., which will receive U.S. distribution rights for the device incorporating this technology. Researchers at TJU conducted studies on the improvement of attention and concentration with Daeyang’s modified MC Square device. The device utilizes synchronized sound and light rhythms to influence brain activity. The original device, created in Korea, has sold over 1.2 million units in that country as an educational tool. TJU researchers and Daeyang jointly filed a patent to utilize the improved MC Square device for treating age-related memory loss. Under the licensing agreement, Daeyang is granted exclusive commercial rights to the technology. Its target market is normal, healthy individuals that report, or are at risk of, mild memory loss. In the U.S., Competitive Technologies will target the same demographic. Go to: http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/articles/primenewswire/123118.htm
