Technology Transfer Tactics monthly newsletter already has attracted subscribers across the United States and in most countries of the world. Thus, plans for expanded circulation include readers in orbiting satellites and on other planets. But can the newsletter survive these situations of diminished or zero gravity?
To ascertain its performance while weightless, the newsletter was tested by company staff Dr. Leslie Norins, Publisher, and Rainey Norins, Vice President. To create several periods of zero gravity, they flew in a 727 jet from NASA’s base in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Mirroring the way astronauts are trained, the plane flew several consecutive parabolic arcs between 20,000 and 30,000 feet. At the top of each parabola, zero gravity is attained within the pressurized, padded cabin, and all objects therein become “weightless” for short periods.
As conditions of weightlessness occurred, the Norins’ and the newsletter “floated” freely within the cabin. The periodical remained open and readable at all times. No permanent adverse effects were noted upon the newsletter or the Norins duo.
As a result of these experiments, Technology Transfer Tactics newsletter has been certified for orbital and interplanetary flight, in addition to Earth use. The publisher’s guarantee of “100% satisfaction at all times” has therefore been broadened to encompass these additional situations.
