Tech Transfer E-News stumbled across an interesting website that tech transfer professionals may want to check out themselves. RealDealDocs was developed by Practice Technologies, Inc., a group of attorneys and legal technologists based in Venice, CA. The site is filled with thousands of documents and millions of clauses from actual transactions drafted by attorneys and law firms, representing a veritable gold mine of legal terminology. Documents are pulled from a variety of sources, but mainly from public filings. Practice Technologies then runs the documents through its categorization and profiling engines to make them easily searchable. For tech transfer professionals, some of the most interesting sections include license agreements, patent license agreements, technology license assignment agreements, and IP license assignment agreements. The site is freely searchable, with significant sections of many documents posted online. Users must pay a small fee to edit, print, and download entire documents. In addition to RealDealDocs, Practice Technologies provides software and content-based systems for the legal community.
