Technology Transfer Specialist at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA)

The Technology Transfer Specialist will identify and protect the intellectual property of CHLA. Work closely with the investigators at CHLA in obtaining legal protection for intellectual property that they generate. Develop and implement marketing strategies, conduct early-stage technology assessments (patentability, financial and commercial viability), and license CHLA’s technologies to commercially exploit CHLA’s innovations. Conduct research on market sectors and competing technologies with the goal of establishing proper valuation and price for licensing CHLA technologies.

Qualifications: MS degree in life sciences. Preferred: Admission to the patent bar, MBA, Law degree. Three years of technology transfer, intellectual property, licensing, and/or industry technology assessment/ development experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Strong understanding of biotechnology industry. In-depth knowledge of U.S. and foreign patent law, and demonstrated competence in drafting of contracts, material transfer agreements, and collaborative research agreements. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal talents, networking skills and demonstrated ability to develop productive relationships with academic scientists and research/business executives in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries. Entrepreneurial spirit / self-starter.
