Editorial Mission

Technology Transfer Tactics monthly newsletter was launched in early 2007 by 2Market Information, Inc, a privately held national science and business publishing company headquartered in Atlanta, Ga. The founder, President and Publisher is David Schwartz.

The audience for this periodical is, broadly, anyone who has an important role in discovering, encouraging, funding or promulgating the transfer or translation of research into useful, practical products which can yield wide benefits. The readership includes institutional directors and managers of technology transfer or translational research, laboratory chiefs, venture capitalists, corporate development officers, intellectual property attorneys, and licensing experts. Subscribers come from the nonprofit, for-profit, and government sectors, worldwide.

Each issue targets specific challenges in recognizing, protecting, and “marketing” potentially valuable research results, moving the discovery from the sheltered world of the laboratory to successful wide utilization, funding these challenges, and ensuring proper division of recognition and resultant monies. Our editors and writers report expert advice, successful case histories, legal perspectives, and other information that will enable hurdles to be surmounted efficiently and with prudent use of limited resources.

Editorial Philosophy:

Technology Transfer Tactics is independent and unbiased. It is not affiliated with any organization, government agency, or foundation, or with any vendor or supplier. It is entirely funded by subscription revenue, and accepts no advertising.

The aim is to present practical, useful information on nitty-gritty topics related to technology transfer and translational research, but not covered in more general medical, business, or financial publications or Web sites. Hence, Technology Transfer Tactics does not compete with such information sources. Instead it provides in-depth case studies and “how to” solutions. These include “best practices” for policy, administrative, funding, legal and other challenges specific to laboratories, universities, government agencies, venture capitalists, and businesses whose mission involves, or depends on, discovering and utilizing new research findings. Its monthly frequency allows prompt dissemination of new or improved tactics for coping with managerial, financial and legal dilemmas.

Its content consists of articles gathered by reporters and editors who interview experts worldwide from all pertinent disciplines. Occasional columnists appear, as do answers to reader questions. A multidisciplinary editorial advisory board serves as a resource for the editor, providing suggestions for topics and interviews.
